Mr. Wilson joined Cummins & White in 2011. Prior to joining Cummins & White, Mr. Wilson practiced exclusively in the field of municipal law as an Associate City Attorney with the City of Bakersfield City Attorney’s Office.

He has broad experience in litigation.  As Associate City Attorney, he prosecuted misdemeanors and municipal code violations, trying 18 jury trials. He obtained guilty verdicts in 5 resisting arrests cases and a guilty verdict in a credit card fraud case involving thousands of dollars.  Many of his prosecutions as a City Attorney involved “quality of life” crimes that would otherwise get dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Wilson has vast experience in municipal governance law.  He advised various city agencies and commissions, revised ordinances, negotiated contracts and handled police and code enforcement matters. He also has a sophisticated understanding of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, CEQA and conflicts of interest laws.

Mr. Wilson is experienced in many aspects of planning, zoning, redevelopment and environmental law.  As an Associate City Attorney, he served as the secondary advising attorney to the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency.  He has advised public agencies on the “blight” requirement of the California Redevelopment Law and has assisted in the acquisition of properties via eminent domain.  He has counseled agencies on tax increment issues.Mr. Wilson has served as the primary attorney for Development Services, where he drafted abatement warrants to allow code enforcement to enter private properties for abatement purposes.

Mr. Wilson has extensive experience in the area of personnel and employment/labor matters, in both municipal and private sectors.

Mr. Wilson graduated magna cum laude from University of California, Los Angeles.  He volunteers his time with the Tustin Chamber of Commerce and leads the Governmental Affairs Council and the Legislative Committee, monitoring pending legislation that may affect the city or the Chamber of Commerce.
