I am pleased to announce that Melanie Balestra has joined Cummins & White, LLP.
As a partner in the healthcare practice group, Melanie focuses on issues that affect healthcare providers, including nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, physical therapists, pharmacists and dentists. She represents clients before their respective Boards in California and Arizona. She represents health care providers in disputes with Medi-Cal and Medi-Care. She assists health care providers in setting up practice in a variety of areas including Family Practice, Aesthetic Medicine and other specialty areas. Additionally, she handles medical malpractice insurance coverage and defense work.
Ms. Balestra also is a licensed pediatric nurse practitioner and continues this profession at the Laguna Beach Community Clinic. She is actively involved in the healthcare community serving on the Board of Nurses Service Organization. From 1998-2002, she served as the president of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, and from 2002-2005, she served as president of the American College of Nurse Practitioners.
Additionally, Melanie is actively involved in the community. She is a board member of Divine Daughters, a non-profit organization that assists women in rebuilding their lives. Through her church, she volunteers as a pediatric nurse practitioner–donating her time locally and abroad to help abused children in the foster system.
