Mr. Lamons joined Cummins & White, LLP as a partner in 2008. He represents taxpayers in administrative proceedings and litigation involving the IRS, EDD, FTB and SBE. Mr. Lamons is a Certified Specialist, Tax Law, by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

In 1985, Mr. Lamons worked in Washington, D.C. for the United States Department of Justice, Tax Division in the Department’s Honors program. In 1990, Mr. Lamons joined the Department of Treasury, Office of Chief Counsel, working first as a Senior Trial Counsel and International Tax Counsel for the District Counsel Office in Laguna Niguel, California. Mr. Lamons then worked as a Special Trial Attorney in the Department of Treasury Regional Counsel Office in Dallas, Texas. In his nearly 15 years of government practice, Mr. Lamons represented the United States in tax litigation in several hundred cases in the United States Tax Court, the United States Bankruptcy Court and the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Charitable Interests & Community Service

Mr. Lamons uses his formal training in theology and seminary while volunteering to teach adult education courses through his church. He also serves on the board of directors for Calvary Curriculum and has served on the board for the Orange County Chapter of the Christian Legal Aid Society.

Special Notes

As a student, Mr. Lamons received numerous academic awards and honors, including membership in the Order of the Coif, the President’s Honor Roll, the Dean’s Honor Roll, and the Frosh Honor Roll. He was also a member of his law school’s law review staff during his second and third years of law school.

He has taught tax classes as an adjunct professor at Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California, and also at Golden Gate University’s graduate school of accounting in Irvine, California.
