Cummins & White Government Agency Practice Expands With Key Contract

Cummins & White is pleased to announce its most recent municipal contract award, quickly expanding its growing government agency and regulatory law practice group.

In a highly competitive bidding process, the firm was selected by the City of Newport Beach to act as its tideland property lease negotiator. Michael Houston, partner, will lead the Cummins & White team in negotiating and advising the city regarding commercial tideland leases and related coastal development.

Since joining Cummins & White in April 2011, Michael Houston has successfully assisted the firm to establish both a government agency and regulatory practice and political and election law practice. These efforts are quickly casting the firm as a leader in municipal law.

Bethelwel Wilson, who joined the firm in August 2011, after spending three years as an Associate City Attorney with the City of Bakersfield City Attorney’s Office is assisting in this expansion. In addition to trying more than 15 jury trials on behalf of the City of Bakersfield, he advised various city agencies and commissions and handled police, personnel and code enforcement matters.

Rounding out the team is a group of 18 other attorneys who have a broad range of expertise including real estate, commercial transactions, commercial litigation, insurance, tax planning and tax controversy, and criminal defense.
